November, 2014 I was going through my wife's Cindy's Bible. a Bible that was presented her by her parents when she joined the church at age 9. In that Bible I found wedding documents from her parents, our marriage license, the first love letter written to her after the wedding and a lock of her hair.
From these mile post treasures got the feeling that many things are so important to marriage. I thought of the song "Ancient Words" and how she said it always gave her goosebumps. Put all together it made me think about how important she saw this marriage. I also saw the powerful message this Bible and her way of living, that of faith hope and love. I remember asking my minister "why her and not me"? He replied "God is not done with you". More thought: I went to the computer and looked up the family Bible and update about lesson that we had in the past about Matthew five and the topic of mourning, that reading led me to other Scriptures and finally to John 10:10. Her Bible is over 50 years old and well-worn. Since it has a zipper cover I carefully put everything back together. The rubber band that was holding everything together had long since broken so I thought what to do? I searched for a new one. Having recently relocated and not knowing what was in the desk I carefully ran my hand into the drawer. On the shelf down a bag of rubber bands. Praise the Lord! This event has been on my mind for the past year and I need to share this story with you and that I am searching out what next. There are many possibilities including sharing of this particular story with young people, losing your mate in the twilight years, and possibly simply the importance of communication? What shall I do? Blessings, Ray
